About us
The lodge was formed by brethren of the Sutton Coldfield area who had all been members of various war time organisations, Home Guard, Auxiliary Fire Service etc. Wanting to continue their comradery, The Lodge of St. Blaise was formed. Many of the founder’s meetings took place at Moor Hall which was then owned by W Bro Robert Swan Streather. It was originally going to be named Harman Lodge after the birth name of Bishop Vesey. Its eventual name came from the Free Chapel of St. Blaise which stood in the grounds of the Manor House until the 16c, and was where Bishop Vesey received his first ecclesiastic preferment as Chaplain. Because of the Bishop Vesey connection, it was agreed that Vesey Lodge No. 4473 become our mother lodge.
All the founders wanted W Bro R S Streather to be their first master but Province deemed that he was too old and in ill health and so the application was vetoed. What Province probably didn’t know, was that same year, aged 73, he fathered his 11th child. He never did become a member of St. Blaise. It was left to his son, W Bro Norman Streather to become our first master.

Our members come from a wide and varied background and everybody’s main motivation is to enjoy themselves with what is a traditional and worth while pastime. We have a active social calendar with many events including Frog Racing, Beetle Drive Skittle Nights, BBQ’s to name but a few. Our philosophy is to do some good and have a good time doing it. We have raised many thousands of pounds for good causes local to Sutton Coldfield. We are also a very inclusive lodge and try to involve all of our wives, partners, children, grandchildren & friends to make our social evenings a true family occasion.
We are proud to be known throughout the province of Warwickshire of being one of the finest exponents of masonic ritual with several unique pieces that visitors come from all over the country to witness.
