Schola Warwicensis Lodge Number 9321

What is Freemasonry?

Monday 12th May 2025

The Schola Warwicensis Masonic Lodge was formed in 1989 by an enthusiastic bunch of Old Warwickian Freemasons and their intention was to form a link between Warwick School and Old W Freemasons. Indeed, we meet around the old OW Weekends, sing the school song (both English and Latin versions) at our meetings throughout the year and previous Headmasters have been members of the Lodge. We support the School where possible – one of the stones outside Warwick Hall was purchased by the Lodge and we have contributed to bursaries at the School.

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal and charitable organisations, with roots in the traditions of medieval stonemasons, focusing on moral development, fellowship, and service. The values of Freemasonry are based on integrity, kindness, honesty, and fairness; these may be considered old-fashioned and traditional, but we believe they have become more important in the modern world. Freemasonry is open to those of all backgrounds and we empower our members to be the best they can be, both for themselves and for society.

We are keen to grow the links between the School and the Lodge and think it is really important for the School to have an understanding of Freemasonry. We are planning to organise a White Table Dinner, which is an informal dinner to welcome non-Masons, their partners, and friends, to learn more about the charitable and fraternal nature. There is absolutely no expectation or compulsion to join – we are just hoping to tap into the School’s values of Curiosity and Courage. We are simply a group of Old Warwickians, who share an interest in the School and Freemasonry. We do hope you are able to join us and find out more.
