A proud day for the Ingrams
by Simon Grove
I was one very proud Bro Lad when I witnessed Worshipful Brother Dad receive a lovely surprise from the Provincial Grand Master at the recent meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge. However, I was not alone. I know of at least one proud Bro. Dad who saw his own Bro. Lad invested as a Provincial Grand Steward. However, Bro. Charles Ingram was perhaps the proudest Bro. Lad present when he watched his father, Bro. David Ingram, invested as the Provincial Senior Grand Warden. What made this extra special is that the boot was soon on the other foot when Bro. Dad saw Bro. Lad invested as a Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies.
With Freemasonry often running in families, it is quite possible to have fathers and sons as well as brothers within the same lodge. It also follows that they will ultimately receive Provincial honours. However, how often can a Province boast a father and son on the acting officers’ team and in such important roles? I’m sure that the historians out there can come up with similar cases but I do know that one lucky lodge will be in for a treat when Team Ingram first attend an installation together. This will be one for the annuls of Warwickshire Freemasonry and I, for one, intend to be there!
