A Try-mendous Day for a Wonderful Cause!
What a day! Knowle Lodge’s Charity Rugby Day, held on Saturday 8 August, was a tremendous success.
Our enormous thanks go to Camp Hill RFC for hosting, and to all the players from Camp Hill RFC, Warwickshire Masonic RFC and especially the Combined Services Barbarians for generously giving their time to take part.
A huge thank you also goes to Neil Merchant and the Shirley Sea Cadets, whose sterling efforts resulted in more than 1,700 raffle tickets being sold!
We were delighted to receive fantastic support from across the Province. Those attending included the Provincial Grand Master, Philip Hall, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, David Shakeshaft and Assistant Provincial Grand Master Avtar Panesar Singh, along with Fisher House Appeal Coordinator Geoff Walker, our new Provincial Junior Grand Warden Roy Dixon and the Let’s Talk Team.
A special mention must go to Andrew Chung, who risked life and limb inside the Fisher House bear costume! We were also pleased to welcome Sgt Manika and Cpl Budha Magar from Fisher House.
Support even crossed the Provincial border, with representatives of Worcestershire Freemasons joining us – including the Past Provincial Grand Master and Assistant Provincial Grand Master WBro Wong.
We will confirm the final amount raised later this week. Most importantly, however, the day helped raise awareness of Fisher House, its invaluable support for injured service personnel and their families, and the charitable work of Warwickshire Freemasons.
Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, attended or supported the event. Here are a few photographs from a truly memorable day!
