The Grand Master, the Duke of Kent, has appointed David Hudd as the next Deputy President of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF, the Freemasons’ Charity), with effect from 10th September 2025. David is currently a Trustee of the MCF, having been appointed to the Board in 2024, and is also a member of its Strategy Committee.

David’s appointment follows the current Deputy President, Ed Goodchild, being appointed Grand Director of Ceremonies. Both David and Ed will be invested into their respective new roles at September’s Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “It is an honour to become Deputy President of the MCF, particularly at such an important time of change for the charity following the Third Pillar Review. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and Strategy Committee as we embark on the next chapter of the MCF’s history.”

James Long, President of the MCF added: “As Deputy President, David will play an even greater role in shaping the future strategic direction of the MCF. I also offer my congratulations to Ed Goodchild who, I am pleased to say, will remain with the MCF as a Trustee for a while longer.”

David has a legal background, having qualified as a solicitor in 1983, and spending much of his career at Hogan Lovells where he was global Deputy Chief Executive from 2014 to 2020. David has also held numerous roles in the financial services sector. He is a trustee and pro bono legal advisor to London’s largest food redistribution charity.
