On the 23rd October W Bro Phil Griffths a past master of Shenstonian Lodge No 5544 was exalted in an exquisite manner into Ex Cathedra RA Chapter No 9229 (that meets at Knowle). It was the chapter’s first exaltation in six years, although the chapter had welcomed numerous joining members over that same period.
The First Principal of the chapter, E Comp David Richards, set a fine example of how to deliver Warwickshire Royal Arch Ritual, and none present could believe that it was the first time he had ever exalted a candidate in that role. An example well backed up by the Principal Sojourner, E Comp Roger Moore, who had not exalted anyone in that capacity for a number of years. Sadly, some members of the chapter were not able to attend/carry out their usual offices for reasons relating to health and recent passing of loved ones. Fortunately, in the true spirit of companionship there were a number of visitors from other chapters who kindly attended at very short notice to cover the missing offices.
The members of Ex Cathedra chapter could not have been more welcoming and grateful to those visitors.
Comp Phil Griffiths having been raised to a Master Mason in February 2005 clearly had waited until his personal circumstances were correct before he took the fourth regular step in ancient freemasonry, but let it be an example to us all that you are never too old (or too young) to be exalted into Royal Arch Masonry. The smiling faces of all those in the photograph give yet more evidence, if it was necessary, as to what a memorable and enjoyable meeting was had by all. Surely, it will not be another six years before C9229 holds its next exaltation ceremony?
