Over 150 years ago under the sanction of Howe Lodge No 587 The General Lodge of Instruction was formed. Since then the lodge has met at various locations but now meets at The Masonic Hall, 60 Severn Street, Birmingham, B1 1QG

Jas Saimbi has been an Assistant Preceptor for 18 months and Richard Pinner our latest Assistant Preceptor in January 2026.

We meet every Thursday at 7.00pm and finish by 9.00 at Severn Street during the months of Sept to May.

Each week we open and close in all three degrees and rehearse a different Ceremony. Also covered are the festive board, masonic etiquette and protocol.

There are no dress restrictions or suggestions. Come as you are from home or work you will be made welcome. There are no annual subs or festive boards. 

Each year we work towards a festival which we hold in May. We are always honoured to have a prestigious member of the craft as our festival president. The current president is the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, David Shakeshaft.
