Roger Mac receives a belated 50-year certificate

At Kenilworth Lodge on 17th December 2024, Roger Mac, who was an Assistant Provincial Grand Master from 2001 to 2008, was officially presented with his 50-year certificate, which he was unable to receive during the Covid pandemic. It was also his 80th birthday and over 90 masons packed into the temple at Victoria House, Leamington Spa, to hear his life story in an interview with Assistant Provincial Grand Master Howard Smith.

Warwickshire’s Provincial Grand Master Philip Hall made a surprise entrance to add to two Past Provincial Grand Masters of Warwickshire, Michael Price CBE and David Macy, together with current rulers, David Butcher, David Shakeshaft, and Avtar Panesar.

Everyone was transfixed by Roger Mac’s life and times, especially in motor sport and the festive board was attended by 87 diners and at the end Roger was presented with a birthday cake.

It was a fantastic spectacle with the dining room packed with Freemasons just as it must have been nearly 200 years ago when the rooms first became the home for Freemasonry in Royal Leamington Spa.
