At the beginning of July, the Lodge and Chapter of Faith and Hope 4772 held their midsummer Sunday lunch at the ever popular Grounds Farm, Wishaw.

80 members, family and friends of both Lodge and Chapter enjoyed a splendid lunch, followed by a free raffle preceded by a collection in favour of Parkinson’s UK, Solihull branch which raised an incredible £485, and will total around £600 when gift aid is added.

As well as being an annual event, this was also part of the celebrations for the Lodge Centenary, the Lodge having been consecrated on 11th November 2025.

There were also chocolates for all present:

The highlight of the day was the presentation of an unannounced 50-year Royal Arch certificate to John Simmonds, a member of both the Lodge and Chapter of Faith and Hope.  John has been a member of the Lodge since November 1967 and received his 50-year craft certificate in 2018.  He subsequently joined the Chapter in May 1975.  John was elected as an honorary member of the Lodge and Chapter in 2019 and still occasionally visits both Lodge and Chapter.

John Hayward, a Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master and current Master of the Lodge of Faith and Hope was delighted to present the certificate, with permission, particularly as he had presented the craft certificate back in 2018.

In a brief presentation John Hayward commented that when he was initiated, John Simmonds was the acting Junior Deacon who escorted him throughout the initiation ceremony, in which both of their respective fathers were involved. John Simmonds’ father was Junior Warden at the time, whilst John Hayward’s father was Worshipful Master. The Lodge of Faith & Hope is very much a family Lodge, with several fathers & sons involved. John Simmonds Grandfather was one of the first joining members of the Lodge, back in 1927, and a founder of the Chapter in 1950.

Having enjoyed a lovely lunch and afternoon, John Hayward reminded members and guests present that the actual centenary meeting of the Lodge takes place on Tuesday 25th November when all are welcome.

There will also be a traditional ladies evening held on Saturday 8th November at the Manor Hotel, Meriden, when all are welcome to attend.
