ProvGDCs Lodge in action at First Principals.

I am always looking for connections whenever writing reports on special meetings such as this.  The recent installation convocation of the Warwickshire First Principals’ Chapter proved to be no different.  The temple at Yenton was full of expectant companions, keen to see some excellent ritual as not only did we (nearly) have all of the Provincial Executive in attendance, they were all involved.

The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent, who just happened to be the outgoing MEZ, opened the chapter in typical Warwickshire style ably assisted by EComp John Starley, the Second Provincial Grand Principal, and EComp Paul Wheeler acting as the Third Provincial Grand Principal.  EComp David Graham, DepGSupt, completed the set as the Presiding Officer.

Having opened the chapter, the MEZ asked everyone to stand in solemn silence following the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II.  He then welcomed everyone before proceeding with the most important part of the evening – installing, or rather inducting, the new principals – EComps John Emms, Mike Hogarth and Avtar Panesar – who were presented by the DepGSupt, ProvGH and acting ProvGJ respectively.  The outgoing principals proceeded to then deliver faultless addresses to the three robes after which the Provincial team delivered equally immaculate addresses – anyone would think that they’d all done them before!!

Having taken the Z Chair, EComp John Emms then proceeded to make his inaugural address, or at least that is what the assembled throng thought.  In a change to normal protocol, EComp John had asked his co-principals to join him in preparing and then presenting their address which was all about the archeological proof of King Solomon’s temple in Jerusalem.  The companions were treated to an interesting and enlightening talk that certainly provided all with their daily advancement.  Could this mark the birth of a new tradition?

With the nation in official mourning, the atmosphere was a little somber with black ties being the order of the day, but we were able to lighten the mood by wishing one of the companions present a very Happy Birthday as the meeting coincided with EComp NTM’s 90th birthday.

Having closed the meeting, the day continued with an excellent lunch and an enjoyable Festive Board before the companions went their separate ways and headed home.

Oh, that connection…..the title gives it away as the new principals and the installation principal are all members of the Provincial Grand Directors of Ceremonies Lodge!  And they all did a splendid job too!!

Here are some photos after the meeting and at the festive board which followed.
