The Shakespeare RA Chapter No 284 enjoyed a very busy and vibrant meeting on 25th July. The labour consisted of two short and very interesting presentations by members of the chapter plus the presentation of a 50-year certificate to E Comp Mike Southworth.

There were a huge number of visitors present, some of whom had travelled all the way from Lancashire to support E Comp Mike, and a galaxy of companions from the upper echelons of Warwickshire KT.

The chapter was also kindly supported by numerous Warwickshire RA provincial officers and OOTYs.

Mike had spent many years living “Up North” and so had practiced his masonry “up there”, but due to changes in personal circumstances had found himself living of late in Warwickshire. So, it has been Warwickshire’s privilege to present 50-year certificates marking his meritorious service in both Craft and RA – and indeed he is soon to receive the same in Mark!

According to Mike freemasonry in Warwickshire is at least as friendly and welcoming as that which he had experienced in his place of birth!

As is usual in this province, the highlight of the evening was the formal proclamation by E Comp James Freakley ProvGDC, which followed the more informal presentation of the certificate itself.
