Founded in 1938, the Stonehouse Gang has long been a key part of the Birmingham community, opening its doors to not only young people but also local pensioners and young mums who might otherwise feel isolated. The young people are encouraged to take part in Art, Sports and Dance. They organising external activities such as trips to an adventure park in Wales and this year they had a long weekend in Brixham, Devon. A trip to the seaside that many of us might take for granted, which many of them due to various reasons have never done before.

For those young people who are up for a challenge the Stonehouse Gang offers the opportunity to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh Awards (D of E). As part of the D of E group they have the opportunity to take part in a range of new activities, whilst earning themselves an accreditation that is recognised by universities and employers alike.

Each year the Gang have an awards evening where they recognise those members who have put in an extra commitment throughout the year over a number of categories including helping others, participating in club night activities and helping organise events. This year’s award night took place on Thursday 24 Sept. Many of the awards were presented by Group Captain Ian Seargent OBE KHS DL.

Warwickshire Freemasons are very honoured and proud to support and be a small part of the development of these young people and helping them gain vital life skills for their futures.
