Warwickshire Freemasons Community Champion Patrick Breen Presents £2,000 Donation to Guide Dogs

One of Warwickshire Freemasons’ inaugural Community Champions has formally presented a £2,000 donation to his chosen charity, Guide Dogs for the Blind Nuneaton Branch.

Patrick Breen of Abbey Lodge No. 432 was recently recognised with a Warwickshire Community Champions Award during the Province’s Annual Convocation and Provincial Grand Lodge meetings in June. Alongside a beautifully engraved commemorative tankard, Patrick received a cheque for £2,000 to donate to a charity close to his heart.

This week, Patrick was joined by Matt Wynne, Worshipful Master of Abbey Lodge No. 432, to present the donation to representatives of Guide Dogs for the Blind Nuneaton Branch during an informal ceremony held at Tesco in Bedworth.

The Community Champions Awards were introduced to recognise Freemasons whose dedication to serving others embodies the Third Pillar of Freemasonry – service to the community. The awards celebrate Brethren and Companions whose voluntary work has made a meaningful difference to people across Warwickshire.

Patrick’s award recognised his exceptional commitment to supporting some of the community’s most vulnerable people. Professionally, he runs a day service for adults with learning disabilities, providing care and support to residents across Warwickshire. He also volunteers as an advocate with Solihull Action, helping young people and their families navigate challenging circumstances.

In addition, Patrick serves as a Blood Bike volunteer, transporting vital blood products and medical samples for the NHS throughout the Midlands.

Presenting Patrick’s Community Champions Award in June, Warwickshire Provincial Grand Master Philip Hall praised his unwavering dedication to helping others through both his professional role and extensive voluntary work.

Patrick was one of three recipients of the inaugural Warwickshire Community Champions Awards, alongside Harry Black of St Andrew’s Chapter No. 4056 and Lewis Marks of Dunsmore Lodge No. 6642.

The £2,000 donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind Nuneaton Branch will help the charity continue its life-changing work supporting people with sight loss, enabling them to live with greater independence and confidence.

Congratulations to Patrick Breen on this well-deserved recognition, and to Abbey Lodge No. 432 for supporting such an inspiring example of community service.
