Warwickshire Vision Support Unveils New State-of-the-Art Training Kitchen

In May 2023, Warwickshire Vision Support began an ambitious renovation of its premises, with a key focus on transforming its meeting and training room into a fully equipped, specialised kitchen. As of 2025, the project has been successfully completed.

The goal was to create a cutting-edge Training Kitchen specifically designed for people with visual impairments. This inclusive space now features high-contrast colours, textured surfaces for tactile navigation, adjustable-height worktops for wheelchair users, and targeted task lighting to assist those with low vision. The kitchen has been thoughtfully designed to foster independence, build confidence, and promote safety in everyday cooking tasks.

More than just a learning space, the Training Kitchen empowers individuals to explore accessible tools and appliances—allowing them to “try before they buy” and discover adaptations that could transform their own homes.

This important development was made possible, in part, through the continued generosity of the Warwickshire Royal Arch Masons. Their ongoing support of the Warwickshire Royal Arch Benevolent Fund (W.R.A.B.F) enabled a donation of £2,500 toward the project.

As an added benefit to the wider community, the upgraded training room is also made available—free of charge—to local Warwickshire charities, further extending Warwickshire Vision Support’s commitment to inclusion and community collaboration.
