About us
Founded with a shared background in firefighting and fire safety, Fire Service Lodge No. 8401 brings together those with a connection to the fire sector in a spirit of brotherhood, service, and tradition. Our members include retired and serving fire officers as well as professionals from across the fire safety field.
We meet to enjoy Freemasonry in a relaxed, supportive environment shaped by our common experiences. The Lodge provides a space where professional respect and Masonic values come together—offering friendship, purpose, and an enduring connection to the fire service community.
Why Join Us?
Joining the Fire Service Lodge No. 8401 offers the opportunity to be part of a unique and welcoming Masonic Lodge built around a shared professional bond. Whether you’re a current or former firefighter, or work within the wider fire safety sector, you’ll find a sense of belonging among those who understand the values of service, discipline, and teamwork.
We take pride in our strong traditions, our commitment to charitable work—especially causes connected to the fire community—and our relaxed but meaningful Lodge culture. As a member, you’ll enjoy genuine camaraderie, support for your personal and Masonic journey, and the chance to contribute to something bigger than yourself.
Here, the fire service spirit continues—on the square.
We are a special interest Lodge
The Fire Service Lodge No. 8401 is a specialist Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England, whose membership is drawn primarily from those who have served as operational firefighters or fire officers within the UK Fire and Rescue Services. We also warmly welcome individuals who have a close professional connection with the fire service or who are actively engaged in the fire safety sector—such as fire safety consultants, enforcement officers, or professionals working in fire engineering, fire risk assessment, or related disciplines.
Prospective members should therefore either be current or former fire service personnel or demonstrate a clear and ongoing association with the fire sector or fire safety profession. This shared background fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding among our members, and informs both our Masonic work and the charitable efforts we undertake in support of fire-related causes.
