About us
Swan of Avon Lodge No.2133 – A Legacy of Brotherhood in Stratford-upon-Avon
A Rich History in the Heart of Shakespeare’s Town Consecrated at the Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall on February 12th, 1886, our Lodge has been a cornerstone of the local community for over 140 years. Our journey through the town’s history is unique: from our early days at the Union Club on Chapel Lane to our “nomadic” years during two World Wars, when we were privileged to hold meetings within the iconic Shakespeare Memorial Theatre. Since 1939, we have proudly called the Masonic Hall on Great William Street our home.
Modern Values, Global Perspectives While we are custodians of a storied past, our membership is firmly rooted in the present. We boast a diverse and international membership, proving that the Masonic values of tolerance, fraternity, equality, and compassion transcend borders and backgrounds. We are a collection of men from all walks of life, united by a desire to better ourselves and support those in need.
More Than Just Meetings We believe that the bonds of brotherhood are forged through shared experiences. Beyond our formal traditions, we maintain a vibrant and inclusive social calendar designed to bring members and their families together.
Why Join Us?
More Than Just Tradition – A Brotherhood of Friends
Why Join Swan of Avon Lodge No.2133? Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest secular fraternities, but our Lodge is very much alive in the present. We are a group of men from all walks of life who share a common goal: to become better versions of ourselves while supporting our community and, crucially, enjoying each other’s company.
What You Can Expect:
True Friendship: In a world where genuine connection is rare, we offer a brotherhood based on trust and integrity.
An active Social Calendar: We believe that the bonds of brotherhood are built as much outside the Lodge room as inside it. Monthly events where partners, family, and friends are always welcome:
Charitable Giving: We are proud to support local and national charities, not just through donations, but through active participation.
Who We Are Looking For: Men of integrity who want to give back to society, learn from others, and have a great time doing it.
