On Wednesday 26th October, St Augustine’s Chapter No. 3713 held their Installation convocation to Install the new Principals.
E Comp Philip Gough, PDepGSupt, was inducted into the chair of Zerubbabel of his Mother Chapter for the first time, 36 years after being exalted. The ceremony being carried out by E Comp Steven Roadley in exemplary fashion. E Comp Thomas Fisher was inducted into the Chair of Haggai and the highlight of the evening being the installation of Companion Raymond Norris into the chair of Joshua at the tender age of 93. Ray having come to Masonry quite late in life having been initiated into St Augustine’s Lodge No. 3713 when he was 86 years young.
The Presiding Officer, E Comp Nigel Hawkins the 3rd Provincial Grand Principal, congratulated the now E Comp Ray on his attaining the chair of Joshua wished him the best of health to continue his progress through the remaining chairs.
The 2nd and 3rd acting Provincial Principals for the evening were; E Comp David Shakeshaft PPGSN and E Comp Paul Buck ProvGSoj respectively and the 3 Principals were escorted by E Comp John Kisbey ProvAGDC acting as ProvGDC.
The Province was also represented by 5 Acting Officers and an Officer of the Year, who together with the other visitors helped to make it a very special night for the Chapter and particularly E Comp Ray.
During the evening Propostions were made for 3 new candidates for Exaltation giving the MEZ plenty of work for his year in the chair.
All those present agreed that it had been a very enjoyable night and offered their congratulations to Ray who lit up the Festive Board with his response to the Principals toast by opening with the remark; “Yipee, I’ve made it to the top table”
