The Right Degree of Interest
On a warm evening in May, the Warwickshire Provincial Membership and Communications Team held their latest open evening for prospective new members at Nuneaton Masonic Hall.
The event attracted an excellent attendance, with a very high calibre of potential candidates eager to learn more about Freemasonry and what membership can offer.
Following welcome drinks and an opportunity to meet existing members, guests were treated to a series of informative and engaging presentations from Matt Perkins, Roger Green and Andy Dobbins. The talks covered a wide range of subjects including the history and traditions of Freemasonry, the layout of a Lodge, the time and financial commitments involved, and the extensive charitable work carried out by Freemasons locally and nationally.
Adding a personal perspective to the evening, Richard Sanzeri and Rick Matsokotere spoke openly about their own experiences of becoming recent members and the reasons that encouraged them to join – which were not necessarily the reason they have stayed members! Their talks gave prospective candidates a valuable insight into modern Freemasonry and the friendships, support and opportunities it provides.
The evening concluded with a lively Q&A session hosted by Matt Perkins, delivered in his usual witty and charming style, which prompted plenty of discussion and laughter among those attending.
Members of the Let’s Talk team were also on hand throughout the evening to answer questions informally, alongside several Brethren who meet regularly at Nuneaton, helping guests feel welcome and relaxed.
The event forms part of the Province’s ongoing social media membership campaign, which continues to generate significant interest. To date, the campaign has received more than 4,000 enquiries from men interested in finding out more about Freemasonry in Warwickshire.
